LEARN, VOLUNTEER, PLAY, CREATE, BUILD COMMUNITY, AND EDUCATE!
Our Purpose
Vision Statement
WBM will improve the quality of life in communities by implementing a number of events, games, and community improvement projects. We will employ homeless, displaced, and problem individuals, as well as work with volunteers to convert green strips, lawns, alleys, and easements into low-maintenance native, perennial, sustainable, yielding systems. We will also work to maintain these systems.
We will actively seek the value of wasted resources by putting them to their duties. The events we host will be centered around educating the community about waste, resources, and sustainability, as well as providing bonding and community-building opportunities. These projects and events will provide a sense of place for everyone in these communities, as well as provide people with an outlet to build connections, to learn, to grow, and to express themselves.
We will also help to connect people with other volunteer opportunities in the community so that they may find projects that are meaningful to them in order to help serve their community.

Alley Project
Northeast, KCMO
We Become More has been working on a pilot program in collaboration with the Community Improvement District and the Northeast Kansas city chamber of Commerce to transform neglected alleys in the Northeast Kansas City area. Our goal is to transform these alleys, which have previously been used for illegal activities and dumping, into safe and sustainable spaces for the community.
We are collecting and categorizing the materials found in these alleys, creating raised garden beds and composting clothing that is no longer suitable for donation. In addition, we are educating the community about the resources available in these alleys and building relationships with the homeless and addicted individuals who use them.
By working together, we hope to inspire a sense of hope and bring about positive change in our community.

Neighborhood Green Strips
Los Angeles County, CA
We Become More has been working on a project in Los Angeles, CA turning bare strips of dirt between the streets and sidewalks into water-conserving gardens using seeds and clippings collected from plants thriving in the community. In order to mitigate the need to water these plants, we are planting them during the rainy season. The goal of this project is to protect bare soil, conserve and infiltrate water back into the soil and fill the aquafers, as well as remove blight and increase beauty in the community which will improve the lives of the surrounding community. We hope that focused attention to these areas will also help to reduce crime, litter, and illegal dumping. If we can prove this process to be effective at achieving these goals we will seek to expand this project into more neighborhoods by working independently, with the help of other groups, or with help from city itself.
