Description
This small tree has large drooping, pear-shaped leaves that are slightly aromatic. Flowers are inconspicuous and are green upon opening and turn to dark purple or maroon in color. PawPaw is the largest edible fruit native to North America. The edible fruit is large, yellow-green 3 to 6 inches long, and ripens in September. Fruits have a thin skin, which contains a yellow custard-like pulp. The taste is between a banana and a mango. The leaves turn bright yellow in the fall. Height at maturity is 20 ft.
